Bear with me folks. The moment will pass, I know. I've decided to spare my social media feeds from this, but it needs to be expressed somehow.
Near the end of the four-day long weekend here in Canberra, this one thought kept pummelling against the shore of my mind over and over and over:
I was recently watching Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and I saw the scene where Caesar excitedly runs around his new home, surely thinking 'well this isn't so bad',
Before he climbs a few rocks, looks at the sun in the sky, raises his hands to it, and feels a 'THUD' -
He'd reached the bounds of his new dwelling, at the same time as realising none of it is real.
Another film I revisited was The Two Towers, with Eowyn (Miranda Otto) speaking truth:
Éowyn: The women of this country learned long ago that those without swords can still die upon them. I fear neither death nor pain.
Aragorn: What do you fear, my lady?
Éowyn: A cage. To stay behind bars until use and old age accept them. And all chance of valor has gone beyond recall or desire.
Aragorn: You are a daughter of kings, a shieldmaiden of Rohan. I do not think that would be your fate.
This is honestly why I love DISRUPTION, in all forms.
I love it when the universe and fate (or even us ourselves, consciously or unconsciously) stick LARGE and sometimes INOPPORTUNE wrenches in the course of things,
To prove that there truly are NO bounds -
No fake sunrises, no cages.
Don't let the illusion of hopelessness take hold, my friends. Shatter it, and run - and dance - and YELL - as wildly and crazily as this life truly accommodates.
ENDLESS, UNSTOPPABLE EXPANSION...
That's what the universe is, and that's what we each are -
Human-shaped, endlessly evolving universes, able to do anything, go anywhere, be anyone.
